When we came out with the original Transformer Bar a few years ago, every professional strength coach, trainer, and clinician scrambled to get one in their facility, understanding the immense value an adjustable squat bar can provide for a wide variety of applications. This bar quickly became the industry's premium squat specialty bar and today finds itself in thousands of home gyms, commercial facilities, clinics, and professional/collegiate weight rooms.
What we didn't realize is how popular the bar would be with home gym owners and regular gym-goers who wanted a better bar to squat with. The Transformer Bar's novel design allows for common squat position variations using a simple pin mechanism, allowing even novice lifters to learn the squat movement pattern in an easier, more comfortable way. The bar's longer handles and proprietary bend provides a balanced "center" that makes the lifter feel at ease under the bar as they focus on the lift. It's an absolutely stunning piece of training hardware, check it out...
The newly re-engineered Transformer Bar is a patent-pending, purpose-built, multi-function specialty barbell which allows for adjustment in the weight's center of mass relative to the lifter's body; changing loading mechanics, movement dynamics, and training effect. It is purpose-built for easy use in both professional (athletic, clinical), commercial, and home gym settings. No other training bar comes close to matching the versatility of use and application as the Transformer Bar.
With this latest iteration (v4.0) of the Transformer Bar, our engineering staff went back to the drawing board to address common issues with the original design and make substantial improvements in both usability and manufacturability. This process of continuous improvement, or kaizen, is central to our product and engineering philosophy. Major improvements on the new Transformer Bar include:

The Transformer Bar features two simple adjustment mechanisms for modifying camber angle and distance from center, for a total of 24 unique angle/difficulty combinations. Durable polyurethane labels on the bar visually indicate each position (camber angle) and difficulty (distance from center). This bar was designed for simple use by individuals that have no prior experience with the bar.
The spring-pin mechanism allows for 6 positions with 30 degrees of variance between them. These fixed positions replicate common squat movement patterns including:
The second adjustment mechanism allows for modifying the position of the weight sleeve, or distance between the center of mass of the weight and the bar on the lifters back. The color-coded label on the weight bracket allows for easy changes to increase or decrease difficulty in any of the 6 common angle positions.
New: Sleeves can now be adjusted from the outside of the bar. Previous iterations required the sleeves to be inserted from the inside of the bracket, requiring the full sleeve to be inserted all the way through prior to locking in place.
We machine-knurled and bent the handles for maximum comfort and performance. Knurl as deep as the best deadlift bars and a natural curve to allow for and promote maximum lat engagement and core stiffness. Unlike many specialty bar handles of this type, the Transformer Bar has a multi-angle bend in the handle to allow for a comfortable, stable, and powerful position on the lifter’s back and shoulders. When designing the bends of the bar handles, we aimed to create something that conformed over the lifter's body in order to provide maximum stability of the bar on the shoulders, with a 12" handle spacing to accommodate as many individuals as comfortably as possible.
The Transformer Bar features a custom injection-molded, high-density foam core that allows for a comfortable position on the lifters back and much improved durability compared to previous iterations. No carpet under-layer here folks (those with other safety bars will understand).
This foam core fits snuggly into the synthetic leather pad cover and both can be easily removed for cleaning or replacement if necessary. The material choice for the pad cover is the best mix of reliability, aesthetics, comfort, and price that we can offer on this bar. Transformer Bar, Kabuki Squat Face, and Made in USA branding finish off the design.
We often get questions about the length of the Transformer Bar's handles. Longer handles (compared to traditional safety bars) allow for improved spinal stability and intra-abdominal pressure due to better lat engagement and a more neutral spine position. Elevation of the elbows and the subsequent external rotation in the shoulders that is typical of short "stubby" handles can decrease your ability to maintain a stacked, upright torso; especially in athletes with mobility restrictions.
The patent-pending Transformer Bar was developed in-house at the Kabuki Strength Lab by athletes of multiple disciplines. The bar is in it's 4th iteration and was purpose-engineered for usability in multiple settings - commercial, team sports, or home use.
The Transformer Bar is popular in team sport settings, allowing for variations in movement patterns while providing the safety and decreased risk of injury that only a specialty bar of this type can provide. The spring-pin mechanism ensures timely adjustment between athletes during team training sessions. Hundreds of collegiate teams and dozens of professional teams across different sports utilize the Transformer Bar - and Duffalo Bar - as a primary substitute for the straight bar in the squat.
In an age of international commerce and manufacturing, it’s exceedingly rare to find products made right here at home. The Transformer Bar is manufactured using American steel, right here in sunny Portland, Oregon by our skilled metalworkers and machinists. Each bar is hand-assembled and sent out across the world to an eagerly awaiting customer. Transformer Bars are shipped securely and compactly in a sturdy, custom box and come with a card hand-signed by the Kabuki Strength employee who assembled your bar.
The Transformer Bar's official load capacity is 1500lbs, although it has been load tested far beyond this figure. The weight sleeves are machined to spec, while the proprietary bracket is laser cut and fabricated in house. As always, if you ever run into an issue with your Kabuki Strength product, please contact our customer service team and they will take care of you.
Wondering how much weight the Transformer Bar can hold? Here's a video of a load test we did on the previous iteration of the bar lifting The War Rig, a 3-ton monster truck built by our very own co-founder Chris Duffin. The current version has been put through an even more rigorous test process.
The Transformer Bar features locking sleeves, allowing for both horizontal and upright storage of the bar in it's ready-to-lift form.
By inserting the sleeves backwards into the brackets, the Transformer Bar easily converts into a compact, 60" x 23" x 8" rectangle for easy transport.

"The Transformer Bar from Kabuki Strength is our upgrade pick for the best safety squat bar. The Transformer Bar is one of the most versatile specialty bars currently available and is done equally as well." - Coop
"I honestly love it way more than the SSB. The padding is more comfortable, the way the handles sit make it much easier to tighten the back and the adjustments give it a ton of utility." - bigcoachD
"This is a great bar, I would recommend it to everyone"

Is there loose pieces for the ajustement or its all in one piece?
So at each end of the bar is 12-angle bracket allows for 360 degrees of variation (30 degree increments) in angle of the weight relative to the lifter. this allows the bar could be used as both a regular cambered bar, and a safety squat bar among many others. These two cages are locked into place with screws.
Two questions: 1.0 - Is the Transformer Bar available with the genuine leather pad yet? 2.0 - Is it possible to remove/replace the pad cover just in case it does wear thin?
The cover is completely replaceable, but that shouldn't an an issue as the material is fairly durable. After our initial run of the bars we have opted to not have the leather pads just for logistical reasons of sourcing the material and having them made at a location separate from our current one.
How much weight can be put on the transformer bar?
The transformer bar is rated for up to 1500 lbs
Hello, Will you be making more transformer bars? I signed up for updates but would like to know if it will be back in production all together....we ordered the Duffalo Bar as well.
Yes, the Transformer Bar is planned to be back in production at some point. We are working through some manufacturing and production issues prior to releasing it for sale.
How long are the handles?
The handles come out 22 inches from the bar center
I just ordered a transformer bar and what to know the recommend storage method?
It can be stored in a rack, or bar holder. Due to the black oxide finish being only mildly corrosion resistant it is recommended to be stored in a climate controlled dry area.
Are the handles threaded on, or welded to the bar? I do a lot of Hatfield squats and always remove the handles of the SSB bar while doing them.
They are welded.
What is the distance between the two handles? Any idea when these will be available again. Thanks
The distance between the two handles is 12 inches. There is a 1-2 week lead time.
What is the distance collar to collar please?
The distance between the inside of each bracket is 51 inches
Do you have any military discount?
I'm loving this bar, but I'm having problems with the bar wanting to move down my back doing 10-rep sets of Good Mornings on the Hinge setting. Are there any tips/tricks/cues to help stop this? Bar placement, where to keep the handles, some force I should be applying to the bar throughout the movement, etc?
Once you have the Transformer Bar on the hinge setting and you are positioned under the bar to perform the good morning movement, make sure you set your lats and brace your core, just like you would in a regular squat. Setting those lats should keep your arms still during the movement. As you hinge at the waist, you will feel the pressure of the bar/weight against the back of your head/neck, but the bar should not be physically moving up or down your back. If your lats are set, you are braced and your arms aren't moving during the exercise, the bar should not be able to travel up or down your back.
How can I be put on the Blemish list for the transformer Bar?
In order to be added to the email alert list for a product, go to our 'Cosmetic Blemish' section, click on the product you are interested in and add your email to the Wait List sign up. Here is a link for the Transformer Bar; https://store.kabukistrength.net/collections/cosmetic-blemish/products/transformer-bar-blemish
Is the logo on the padding embossed or stitched on? I've seen it both ways, but prefer the emboss much more.
The current version of the Transformer Bar pad cover has the logo stitched on the back side.
Trying something different. Have you ever used with it with the handles facing the rear and pad on the front to mimmick a front squat? And if so what setting would you recommend? I have the older version that doesn't have the retractable pin.
We definitely recommend people just adjust the bracket further forward to simulate a front squat.
Hi do you ship to Australia? And if so what's a rough estimate of shipping? Thank you.
Does Kabuki Strength have or offer a Military/First Responder discount?
I see the wait time is 16-18 weeks. Do you charge the card right when it’s ordered or when it ships?
For an order to be entered into our system for fulfilment, it must be paid for at the time the order is placed.
I have reached out in the past about this bar, I am hoping to order a new bar but my shipping address could change between order placement and the actual shipment. I am wondering how this will work with such a long lead time, is there anyway that when the order is getting ready to ship I could be notified and pay the difference for the shipping I have been waiting to order this bar for some time due to this.
Once an order has been placed, you are welcome to reach out to Customer Service at firstname.lastname@example.org to change the shipping address, if needed. If there is a cost difference, that can be handled at the time of shipping. We often do this for our military customers and anyone who is preparing to move in the future.
Hi I have a transformer bar and have two questions. First, I’m finding that if I hold it naturally on the handles, that during the squat that it positions my elbows in a way that they hit my quads as I approach the hole; to the point that it doesn’t allow me to reach depth and throws me off balance. Link attached: https://youtube.com/shorts/_RcsoQ3WvPY?feature=share Do you have any advice or guidance on this? Second, obviously different SSB bars have a variance in feel and postponing. However, in your opinion, which setting best represents a ‘standard’ SS bar. Say a Rogue SSB for example? Clearly, it would be the SSB setting, but which number (1,2,3,4)? Thank you…
If the handles of the Transformer Bar are hitting your legs in the base of the squat, adjust the way you are holding the bar so that you are pushing the handles away from your torso.
Regarding the closest setting to mimic a 'standard' SSB - that varies by SSB manufacturer, but generally using the SSB setting with the 2 or 3 sleeve setting would be best - depending on how aggressive the camber is on the SSB you’re trying to mimic
DO YOU SEND TO CYPRUS-EUROPE?IF YES HOW MUCH IS THE TOTAL PRICE?
Hi quick questions Great products - but; Do you guys ship to Norway? (Very smal country located in the Northern part of Europe :) ) Kind regards, Håkon
When using the back squat or front settings. Have you tested differences of 1 RM or 3 RM versus a straight bar? If so what were the findings?
We don’t have hard numbers for X % = Y % 1RM for the transformer bar settings. This is going to be individual, related to individual biomechanics and what positions certain individuals are stronger in than others. However, overall we can state that the back squat settings are similar to a straight bar for most people. Front squat can vary a fair amount, though.
How much does the original transformer bar weigh unloaded?
The original V1, V2 & V3 was a 45lb bar. The new zinc V4 bar with the pull pin is a 55lb bar.
Will this fit on a Rogue SM-2 Squat rack?
The Transformer Bar will fit on any rack that can fit a standard-sized Olympic Barbell, but most comfortably on a rack up to 52 inches wide.
I am really interested in purchasing this bar but I am afraid it might corrode rapidly since the coating is only zinc. I train in a garage gym and I wanted to know if this bar is ideal for that environment because I do not want to purchase something for 600 plus and it rusts quickly. Is there some sort of guarantee that this bar is highly resistant to corrosion?
Zinc plating should do very well in a garage gym. Just make sure to store it in a rack and to towel off any moisture on the bar before storage.
With the extended lead time would my card be charged when the bar ships or when I place the order? Just curious thanks
For an order to be placed in our system, it must be paid for in full.
what is the dimension and weight of the packing box？
The dimensions of the Transformer Bar package are; 62.5 x 9.5 x 27 inches and it weighs 68lb 14oz.
What are Kabuki's thoughts on adding custom orders down the line? My rack is 59 inches wide and I understand that the distance between the brackets is 54 inches. I have this issue with the kadillac bar as well.
Can this bar be stored with a vertical bar holder with all of the weight resting on one side?
Absolutely! That is how we store all of our bars at The Lab.
Where can I find a replacement pad for the transformer bar 1.0?
Reach out to our Customer Service department at; email@example.com and they can create a draft order for Transformer Bar pads for you. Make sure to include your shipping address and telephone number.
How long will it take to ship the transformer bar?
Production lead times are posted near the top of each product page in the section(s) titled, 'Important Notes' and 'Highlights'. These lead times are updated each Monday and are the most up to date information we have regarding orders placed that day.
Do you ship to Canada?
We do ship to Canada. Most of our international customers prefer to use UPS's Worldwide Expedited Shipping option, since it also covers customs brokerage fees. VAT/import taxes are the responsibility of the customer and will be collected once the equipment has arrived in-country.
I see there is a long lead time for the transformer bar. If I order today, will I be charged now or once the item is ready for shipment? Thanks
An order must be paid for at the time of placement, in order for it to be entered into the manufacturing queue.
I have version3 transformer bar. Is there any spring-pin attachment that can attach on my v.3 and work as v.4. If there is not, I feel like I should not buy v3 and regret.
There is no way to convert the V3 Transformer Bar to the spring pin attachment of the V4. It is a completely different apparatus.
What is the distance between the center of the bar and center of the sleeve, when on the “harder” or #4 setting? Thanks in advance
The drop from the top of the center bar to the center of the sleeve when it is in position 4 is about 8 inches.
If the padding wears down are we able to purchase extra padding? I own transformer bar Version 3 and the shoulder padding had worn down where I can feel the metal on my shoulders and is uncomfortable. My short terms solution is to rotate the shoulder padding and works great. Just wanted to know if over time I can purchase more padding.
Actually, we replace the Transformer Bar pads for free, if you purchased the bar directly from us. Just reach out to Customer Service at firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, address and telephone number and let them know you need replacement pads. They will process your order and have them sent directly. We actually began using a different pad manufacturer in Jan 2020, so the pads are much more dense and are holding up to more use at heavier weight. I am sure you will be pleased.
IS SHIPPING INCLUDED IN THE PRICE OF THE TRANFORMER BAR?
Shipping is not included in the price of the Transformer Bar.
Can the Version 4 Transformer bar be stored in Vertical Storage Rack? What's recommended? Since, I don't have much space in my garage, and currently have a 9 bar Vertical Storage Rack.
The Transformer Bar can absolutely be stored in a vertical rack and that is actually how we store ours at The Lab.
Why is the shipping cost for the Transformer Bar so expensive compared to the other bars going over the same distance? Would love to get one but the shipping cost is almost an additional 50% on top of the purchase price. Was wondering if there were any other cheaper shipping options available to California?
Shipping cost is based on package weight and dimension, as well as distance to location. The Transformer Bar is over 70lbs 14oz and by far the largest package we send from Kabuki Strength. The rates you see on our site are pulled directly from what we are charged by UPS, which is why they may fluctuate a bit from time to time. Unfortunately, we found out today that UPS instituted their 'Peak Season Surcharge' on October 4th, which increased costs dramatically on larger/heavier packages. This happens every year about this time and will last into January, if not later. Sadly, all shipping companies have the same policy during the holidays and competitors' rates for our packages are all much higher than UPS. I apologize for the inconvenience. Here is a link, in case you have more questions;
Will there be an upgrade available for the black oxide sleeves...? Standard order, vs premium order...? Wouldn't want to pay for it twice as with Ironmaster.
We don't have any plans to change the black oxide sleeves on the Transformer Bar. Wanting to keep the interface between the sleeve and bar as tight as possible, we have to use a finish that has minimal (or no) buildup is imperative for keeping the tolerance stack-up consistent.
Can this be shipped to Canada?
Are there any military discounts?
What are the dimensions and total weight of the package when it is shipped out? I travel to Portland semi-regularly and am wondering if I might be able to check in the package at the airport to save on shipping.
The package dimension and weight for the Transformer Bar when packaged for shipment are; 61.25 x 9 x 26.25 and the weight is 70lb 14oz.
How much does the transformer bar weigh?
As stated in the Spec Grid on the product page, the Transformer Bar weighs 25kg, or 55lb.
Hello. I was considering purchasing a few bars from you and I was wondering if you have an option to pickup from your location? The main thing that is preventing me is the shipping cost. We will be driving out to Oregon this year for Christmas and I had a plan of possibly picking up some bars and driving back home with them. Please let me know if this is possible! It would be a great Christmas if this is the case. Thanks!
Yes, you may absolutely pick up your barbells and IASTM/mobility tools from The Lab, if you place your order ahead of time. When you are ready to place the order, please reach out to Customer Service at email@example.com and they can create a draft invoice for you without the shipping applied. They will add the appropriate notes for our Shipping Department and reach out via email when your product(s) have been manufactured and are ready for pick up. We look forward to hearing from you!
When will the bar be back in stock to order?
We are limiting sales to a certain number of bars per week, so when they sell out they will not be available until the next Monday. This will give us the opportunity to catch up on manufacturing from all of the sales that are taking place due to the pandemic. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.
Am I able to pick up my purchase if I live in Oregon?
Depending on the item, you can pick up your purchase from The Lab. When you place your order, make a note in the 'Order Notes' section that you'd like to pick up your item(s) in person. Then, we will reach out to you via email when your purchase(s) are ready for pick up and set an appointment for you to come to The Lab to do so. Once the item is in your hand, we will refund the shipping charges back to your original form of payment. If you have already placed your order, reach out to Customer Service at firstname.lastname@example.org and let them know you'd like to pick up your purchase. They will add the appropriate notes to the preexisting order for you.
Can you perform Hatfield squats with the transformer bar?
You can definitely perform Hatfield Squats with the Transformer Bar. It's a popular exercise with this bar. It would be setting 1.5/2 - D on the previous version of the Transformer Bar, or the High Bar setting on the new version. Start at those settings and adjust to what feels the most balanced.
Do you ship to UK ?
Is it possible to pick up the bars from your location of you live local ? Thank you
Yes, if you are local you may make notes in the 'Order Notes' section when you place your order that state you'd like to pick up your products in person. Once your barbell has been manufactured, we will reach out and set an appointment for you to come to The Lab to collect your item(s). Once the bar is in your hands, we will refund the shipping portion of your order.
If you have already placed your order, please email customer service at email@example.com with your name and order number and let them know you'd like to pick up your item(s) in person.
Do you need special collars for this bar or do standard spring collars work?
Standard Olympic sized collars work for the Transformer Bar.
Will the 4.0 version fit onto a barbell gun rack that's directly against a wall?
Not unless it is a rack that has a lot of depth. Due to the design of the bracket, this bar is best suited for a vertical floor rack.
Any chance you're gonna offer the newest transformer bar in all black oxide (entire bar)? All my Kabuki bars are black oxide, so I wanna keep the all black theme. Custom maybe?
Unfortunately, the new version only comes in zinc. Reach out to customer service if you are interested in purchasing one of the previous versions and we will see what we can do. Email us at; firstname.lastname@example.org
What’s the price in CAD and how do I get it shipped to Canada?
If you order different finishes (Nickel or Black Oxide) on the new Transformer bar, does the entire bar come in that finish including the adjustable portion?
This version of the Transformer Bar only comes in zinc with black oxide sleeves.
Shipping cost to 92869
What would shipping to Australia look like on the transformer bar?
On IG, I see a new piece which shows which type of squat you’re doing based on location of the pin. Duffin also mentions an upgraded pad. Will orders placed now have access to both? Thank you for great products. I have the trap bar and kadillac bar and love them.
Yes and YES! Place your order when ready. :-) ~Charlie
Do you offer military or student discount?
We do not offer a student discount, but we do offer a Military/Police/Fire/First Responder discount. Please contact our Tactical Sales Manager, Charlie Ritchie, at email@example.com. She will take care of you and your order.
Hi - is the transformer bar available? And from the ordering, how long before shipping? Thank you Chun
Hi there what would be the total cost in AUD$ to supply and ship a transformer bar to Osborne Park, Perth, Western Australia 6017?
Hello, the dimensions are not published. Regarding the V3 Transformer Bar, what is the distance between the pads and what is the distance between the handles? Thank you.
The distance between the handles on the Transformer Bar is roughly 11 3/4 inches and the distance between the pads is roughly 11.5 inches.
I have ordered a lot of gym equipment online of late and have in a few cases seen moderate to severe shipping damage even on metal parts. How well are your bars packaged and how do you address shipping damage should it occur (scratches or worse)? I live in Europe and would not be too happy having to send it back for a replacement. Are all bars sent out always new or do you also send out customer returns, i.e. can we always expect to get a bar in perfect condition? Thanks!
We package our products to UPS standards and have significantly upgraded our packaging within the last year. However, we cannot guarantee that the shipping companies will treat our equipment with the same level of respect, at all times. We have done our very best to protect all items from impact damage during shipping and have a very low occurrence rate of this over the last 6 months.
In regard to what we send, we always send new products to our customers, unless they have specifically purchased a blemished version of the bar from our 'blemished' section online. Usually, those products have some bumps, rubs, scratches and uneven plating from the manufacturing process, since we very rarely have a customer return an item. I hope this helps.
can I shorten the delivery time?
The lead times listed on the product page is the most up to date information we have regarding our manufacturing schedule, number of outstanding orders and the amount of orders being placed. It is updated every Monday, if needed, after our manufacturing meeting. There is no way to shorten the manufacturing time. When you are checking out, you do have an opportunity to select the shipping option that best fits your needs. However, shipping time does not affect production lead time.
Does this bar help reduce stress on the elbow joint? My son broke his olecranon process which was surgically repaired and we are looking for a bar he can use to squat with that reduces load on the elbow.
Experientially, yes, the Duffalo Bar does allow for a more comfortable back rack position where the load rests primarily on the back musculature and less on the elbows, but every situation will be individual.
What are the options for local pickup?
When you place your order, you will want to make a note in the 'Order Notes' section, stating that you'd like to pick the product up in person at The Lab. Please include your email address. Once the item is ready for pick up, we will email you to set an appointment to come down to our facility. Once it is in your hands, we will refund your shipping fees to your original form of payment.
Is there an ideal setting for goodmornings on the transformer bar?
The nice thing about the Transformer Bar is that it is adjustable for whatever feels most comfortable for your body. Most people like 2D or 2.5C for Good Mornings. The further the weight goes away from the body, the more challenging the load is going to be, so you can play with it that way.
Will there be a v4 of the transformer bar?
Any changes made to the Transformer Bar in the future will just be called, 'The Transformer Bar'. We will not be labelling changes as V4, V5, etc...
What is the best way to properly care for the Transformer bar to avoid rust? I live on the east coast of central florida and I have seen several people comment on surface rust issues due to humidity and the coating of this bar.
The best way to care for your bar is to do your very best to make sure it doesn't get wet and if it does, dry the bar immediately. You can also apply a light coat of mineral or 3in1 oil with a cloth to entire bar and sleeves (not the pad) a few times a year after use. That will help keep corrosion at bay.
Is this shipped to taiwan?
Can i buy just the transformer bar pad?
For the Transformer Bar pads, just reach out to customer service @ firstname.lastname@example.org and we can facilitate the replacement for you. Don't forget to include your name and shipping address. Thank you.
I just received my Transformer bar and I absolutely love it!! I have been squatting with the Duffalo bar for 2 years now so can you please tell me what the closest setting would be the duplicate the Duffalo bar? Thanks
Fantastic! We are glad to hear you are a Transformer Bar fan! The setting to use will either going to be the front squat or back squat setting, depending on how you were using the Duffalo Bar. The front squat setting on the Transformer Bar is 2.5C and the back squat setting is 1D.
Hi Guys I purchased one of your transformer bars and I love it . Just a quick question is it suppose to have end caps?
The Transformer Bar does not come with end caps.
Hello, I was wondering how much would it cost to ship the transformer bar to Japan? My closest big port is Ōsaka if sent by ship or Kansai international airport if by air. Another consideration if this ends up to be too costly is for me to have it sent to my mom who lives in Hawaii and for her to bring it with her when she visits. How much is shipping to Hawaii? Also what are the dimensions of the box it is shipped in (as I need to compare to the allowed size for checked baggage if I go this route)? Thanks, Mark
In order to obtain a shipping quote, you will need the full shipping address. The best way is to go to our website and add the items you want to your cart. Then, during the check-out process, you will enter your shipping address. At that time, all shipping options for that location will auto-populate. You may select the best option for you, based on rate and shipping time. Since we only ship by air internationally, most of our customers prefer to select UPS's Worldwide Expedited Shipping option, since this will usually arrive within about 5 days of leaving Oregon and will also cover customs brokerage fees.
The dimensions of the Transformer Bar when packaged is; 58x28.4x8.4 @ 55 lbs. I recently flew to Ireland with this exact package and had no issues with the airline. You will want to call ahead and be sure however, since every airline is different.
Is it possible to use the Transformer completely hands-free, i.e. will it balance well and sit firmly on the shoulders without having to grab the front grips during exercise movement? That feature does not seem evident from the pics and videos of this bar in use, but it is a key feature that I value highly in i.e. the Rogue Safety Squat Bar and others.
You absolutely can use the Transformer Bar hands free. We've had many athletes use it that way for different reasons.
Shipping cost? To Paducah, KY 42003.
In order to calculate a shipping estimate for any of our equipment, we need the full address. However, all you need to do is add the item to your online cart and go to the check-out screen. You will enter the shipping address there and all shipping options for that locations will auto-populate. Then, you can make your selection to what option best suits your needs.
Can this product be picked up in store?
We don't have a 'store' per se, however many of our items may be picked up at The Lab once they've been manufactured. There is an area called 'order notes' in the online check out system where you can let us know you'd like to do so. Please include your email address and once the item has been manufactured, we will reach out and schedule a date and time for you to come in. Our system will charge shipping at the time of purchase, but we will refund that directly to your original form of payment when you pick up your item.
I hear you are looking into other coating options besides the black oxide. Would love that as I live in a very humid area. Any timeframe on that? Trying to determine if I should hold off on buying the transformer or not.
Unfortunately, we are not looking at any coating options for the Transformer Bar. Due to the fact that the parts interface so tightly on this particular bar, means we don't have much room for variable thickness added by other coatings. This is the reason we went with black oxide, which is a chemical process that does not add coating/plating to the bar.
The distance of 12 inches between handles is too large for me. Can you make the distance shorter for some bars - around 10.5 inches? Maybe make a short, medium and large version?
Unfortunately, we are unable to custom manufacture barbells. I apologize for the inconvenience. However, we have a number of athletes that are all different sizes successfully and comfortably use the Transformer Bar. One of our coaches is 5'1 at maybe 110lbs and she uses it often.
Hi, do you deliver to Europe? Poland being more specific? Thank you
We do deliver to Europe! During the check-out process, enter your shipping address and that will populate the shipping options that are available for that area. Many of our international customers prefer to use UPS's Worldwide Expedited shipping option, since that also covers customs brokerage fees in most countries.
What are the complete dimensions of the bar when folded up to it’s smallest dimensions for storage? The ‘locked in mode’ pictured at the end. And can it easily disassemble? I’d love one of these, but need to be sure I can store it.
It's roughly 57 inches in the folded up/locked in mode, if the bolts are attached. The bar easily disassembles for storage.
Do you guys ship to APO?
Yes, we do!
Is the Transformer Bar made of hollow metal like most standard SSB?
The Transformer Bar handles are hollow, but the bar itself is not hollow.
Is there any financing available?
Thank you for reaching out to us. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer financing at this time. We will definitely let our customers know if the option will be available again the future and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Do you ever offer discounts on the transformer bar similar to the Black Friday deal? Thanks
Occasionally we release discount codes on our social media sites for a certain percentage off your order, but it may not be applicable to all products. The Black Friday deal was the biggest we have ever done and we have not decided what the deal will be this year. Stay tuned to find out and make sure you are registered on our email subscription list. The news will break there first!
Are you planning to have a warehouse in Europe or do you have any partners that sell your products in europe? I would love to buy a TRANSFORMER BAR but the shipping and customs cost for portugal would make me pay almost the price of two bars.
At this time we do not have a European distributor for our Transformer Bar. However, we do have Kustom Kit in the UK distributing our Boomstick and ShouldeRoks in a nickel finish.
Hi Can you give me the shipping cost to the UK for the Transformer bar please
For specific quotes on shipping, please email your full address information to email@example.com Thank you.
Hi KS, Do you deliver in France 🇫🇷 ❓ Best 🙏
We definitely deliver to France. At check out, just select UPS Worldwide Expedited shipping for your product.
Hi are You shiping to Poland ?
Yes, we do! Just make sure to select UPS Worldwide Expedited shipping as your method to ship the bar during the check out process.
How wide is the inner part of the padding? I am a woman and I have a very narrow shoulder width. I'm concerned that the metal part of the handles (beneath the padding) will be outside my shoulders.
The space between the Transformer Bar pads is about 9 inches and the space between the handles without padding is about 11 inches. We have a client here at KSL that is 98lbs with narrow shoulders and she uses the bar often without any trouble.
What is the difference between the Transformer v2 and v3?
There were only a couple of aesthetic changes between v2 and v3, nothing that changed the performance of the bar itself. The angle and length of the handles would be the only thing most people notice.
Hello, I'm looking for a PO quote for one of your transformer bars for my police department gym. Thanks, Sgt Tim
Tim, thank you for reaching out to us. Charlie Ritchie is the head of Tactical Sales for Military/Police/Fire/First Responders at Kabuki Strength. You can always contact her @ firstname.lastname@example.org, but we will let her know to reach out to you.
I am going to be in the your area in May. Can I purchase this bar and pick it up so i dont have to pay shipping?
Absolutely. In the notes section of your order, make sure to let us know you would like to pick up the bar at The Lab when it's completed and list your email address and telephone number in that box. We will contact you when it's ready. Our website will automatically charge shipping at check out, however we can refund it when you pick up the bar. Also, be sure to order ahead. Our bars are popular and sometimes not in stock at all times. Thank you!
Hi, I’m from India and I wanted to know if you ship to India?
Can this bar replicate low bar squats?
Absolutely! On setting 1D, to be exact.
Does the center piece of the V3 have a reference notch on '1' as shown in THE TRANSFORMER BAR POSITIONAL MATRIX? I would like to purchase one for my unattended gym, as well as get a large scale printup of the matrix but without a reference notch I fear the only thing it wil be used for is rack pulls.
Great question! Yes, there is a reference notch on the end of the center bar. The bar also comes with a laminated, card-stock printed sheet with the positional matrix and common positions.
Would this breakdown small enough to put in the trunk of my car
It depends on the width (and depth) of your car's trunk. The sleeves can be rotated inwards which reduces the length of the bar to 56". The bar will easily fit in the back passanger seat area of most 4-door cars.
How much weight can the bar hold in pounds?
We've load tested it with over 1,200lbs. Also, there's this; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=arAar0dMzxU
What’s the diameter of the sleeve on the transformer bar?
The sleeve is machined to a standard 2" (50mm) olympic diameter.
I have a half rack with weight storage and 45lbs plates that leave about 3 inches when unracking. Am I going to be banging into the storage plates with the transformer bar at the most forward setting?
The measurement between the inside of each of the brackets on the transformer bar is 52 inches, so as long as you have clearance for that you should be good!
Do you ship to Hawaii
We do indeed!
Can I pick up my order?
Contact us at email@example.com to schedule a pick up
I was wondering if I choose the financing with Klarna would I be able to pay he balance off early or am I locked in to 6 months of payments? Thank you for your time.
You can pay the balance off early just like you would on a credit card.
Hi! After shoulder injury & surgery from a car accident, I won't be able to low bar squat for a while. Normally I carry the bar super low on my back and I'm a pretty bent over squatter. Things like SSB force me to an upright position, and if I pull on the handles to shift the weight backwards, it's basically like a mid-back exercise, doesn't really resemble a normal low bar squat. Question is, is there a setting on the Transformer Bar that should be able to make me mimic the mentioned, bent over low bar squat form? Thank you very much in advance! Have multiple products from you already, and love all ofthem.
Because the Transformer bar is adaptable to 48 different positions, you may be able to play around with the setting until you find something that replicates the movement pattern you are describing. A traditional SSB or cambered bar is fixed, and like you said using the handles to push/pull into a different position isn't very effective. Stay strong and we hope your rehab goes well so you can be back to 100% asap!
Hi Is there a newer version of the TRANSFORMER BAR coming soon or should i go ahead and buy the v3?
We have no active plans for a newer version of the Transformer Bar anytime soon, so you should be save to purchase the current V3 version.
How much weight can the the bar actually hold?
The bar has been tested and is regularly used by some elite lifters with over 1000lbs of load. The weight brackets have also been tested in their most extreme position (at a 90 degree angle with sleeves at maximum distance from center) with over 2000lbs. The Transformer Bar is an American-made, purpose-built, high quality bar and is able to handle serious weights. Happy squatting!
I am interested in ordering your transformer bar and i was wondering if there is a pro team discount from Kabuki strength. Thanks Vaughn

Can this bar mimick the lowbar squat? I can’t low bar with a straight bar, but I can lowbar with my cheap “bow bar”. I’d like to buy a “nicer “ version of my bow bar (your Dufallo bar), but this transformer bar replicates your dufallo bar, is this correct? For low,bar squats with no elbow pin would you recommend the dufallo, or transformer?
Yes, the 1D position on the Transformer Bar is similar to a regular low bar back squat. As to which bar we recommend, it really depends on your goals and needs. The Duffalo Bar is a great training bar for the squat as well as the bench press, however you can't beat the versatility of the Transformer Bar. Keep in mind that you can also do front squats with a Duffalo Bar! You honestly can't go wrong with either one.
Hi there, i live in Malaysia and the shipment costs are nearly as much as the bar itself. So i can only afford one bar. Which would you recommend ? The Transformer or Duffalo Bar? I am currently a novice (squatting only 100kg and weigh 80kg) and don't seem to have any back or shoulder injuries. Thanks! Colin
I would recommend the Duffalo bar as it can be used for a greater variety of lifts. You can use it for all squatting and pressing variations and while the transformer bar affords you a lot of adjustability in how you're loading the squat, it is also only usable for the squat.
What is the preferable setting for good mornings on the transformer bar?
That really depends on your personal prefrance/limb-torso length. Starting with the Back Squat setting then progress to the Saftey Squat Bar setting would be a good place to start.
I have been able to purchase some gym equipment that was in a fire. One of the pieces is a Transformer bar. It cleaned up well but the padding is a bit scorched and smells pretty bad. Are these pads sold separately, and if so how much. Thank you.
Hey! Sorry that happened to you! We'd be glad to work something out to get you a new pad cover. Email "email@example.com" and they will hook you up - I'll tell them to expect you!
Like other safety squat bars, can this stay on your shoulders even without holding onto the handles? For instance for single leg work while holding onto a bar in front for stability. Thank you.
The ability of the bar to balance on your shoulders without hands on the handles depends on the setting used. Certain settings require the lifter to hold onto the handles, particularly those where the weight's CoG is shifted posteriorly.
