In this video, Coach Cable discusses and demonstrates self-use techniques for the Boomstick.
This new product was developed by our product engineers at Kabuki Strength in conjunction with World Famous Strength Coach, Donnie Thompson. The Boomstick is an IASTM, or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization tool and is best used individually or with a teammate to diffuse and break up muscle/adhesive tissue. This highly-anaerobic tool allows for myofascial release to be done in seconds instead of hours. A 19.9 lb. high-grade steel tool; the Boomstick is highly effective as a body-tempering roller for the smaller extremities.
"When it comes out of the box you can tell no stone was left unturned and every detail has a purpose. I really like the weight of it and the knurl through the middle is just sharp enough to create shear across the layers of soft tissue without being too aggressive. I like the diameter and the ends do a very nice job of helping you get deep into the shoulders and hips. It is very easily maneuverable for personal use and so far the people I've used it on it has really saved me the overuse of my hands and I can back of the pressure or really lay into them when necessary. So how does it work? Quite simple actually, it's a 19.5lb weighted device which allows for pressure to be placed on a specific area via the contoured ends and modulated by either pushing against the implement or resisting it. Additionally, the knurled middle part of the implement can also be used to both put pressure against the skin and twisted to provide a shearing effect to the tissue and fascia.
Thousands of our Boomsticks have been purchased by athletes around the world - enabling them to spend less time on body maintenance and more time training or competing. We've also seen many massage practitioners implement this tool and technique as a way of increasing both the effectiveness of their work and the amount of work they can do at a given time.

Alright then, maybe you're sold on it. But isn't it just a shiny and smooth piece of steel? Why does it cost as much as it does? Unfortunately, the cost of raw steel and having it professionally milled is quite steep, if you don't believe us feel free to go to a metal fabricator and ask how much a Boomstick would cost as a one-off piece? Let's just say it's going to cost quite a bit more than our price. Besides this, you are not just paying for the tool itself, but the knowledge that comes along with the IASTM method as well as content that we are continuously producing and releasing for our audience and customers.

What's the best way to treat the non-zinc coated boomstick? A chrome polish, or a rust removal solvent?
The best way would be to coat it with oil.

Which one is the best, the unteated or the zinc? I didn't realize there were two different kinds. I hope I didn't make a mistake when I placed my order for my son.
The zinc plating is very thin metal coating that goes over the product, it won’t change the function at all but it will prevent the product from rusting and keep it cosmetically nice for a very long time. The untreated product will function exactly the same, however it may require a bit more care and may be more succeptible to surface-rusting (can be easily cleaned) if left in a humid environment.

Hi, I was just wondering if you ship to the UK and Ireland?
We do ship to both of those countries, but for two of our products (the boomstick and the painpill) we are partnered with a company that is based in the UK that manufactures and ships them from there. If you just choose the "UK" or "Ireland" shipping option at checkout (it will give you one appropriate to your country based on your address) it will ship from the UK and likely be much cheaper than us sending it from the US.

Hey, is there still any companies in uk distributing boomstick? I live in Northern Ireland and postage it is showing is fat more then the the 2 products i want to purchase. Thank you.
Unfortunately, we no longer have an international distributor for our IASTM tools. We are hoping to add one in the next 1-2 years, once we are able to scale up our production, however.

Do you need to a certification to use this? Also, do you have a course or know of a course to be taught how to use?
You do not need a certification to use a Boomstick, PainPill, Geisha or Baby Boomer. However, there are body tempering courses available out there and we have one in the works to release in the next year. My Zinc coated pain pill is tarnishing. How do I get it looking shiny and new again? I've tried everything and nothing works.
We use aerosol window cleaner to shine them up here at The Lab. However, they will develop a natural patina over time after use.

Hello, I have read that KustomKit in the UK at one point made the boomstick and painpill to make the shipping easier. I was just wondering if this was still the case, or would my order still be coming from the US? Thanks Roland

What is the best way to clean the broomstick and treat it to retain its polished look?
We use Windex on our Boomsticks, PainPills and Baby Boomers here at The Lab, but any alcohol-based cleaner will do.

How well does the boomstick do when traveling - specifically through security at the Airport?
The Boomstick is too large and heavy to be carried on the airplane, so it would need to go in checked baggage. We fly with one every time we compete and it had never been a problem with TSA, or internationally.

Both the Baby Boomer and the Boomstick would be excellent, but if you are not travelling a lot I would recommend the Boomstick.

Before buying this product I’d like to know if it’s effective on the quadriceps and adductors? Since I’m a first time buyer I’d like to know all I can. I appreciate your help.

When ordering is there a place to select if you want the untreated or zinc coated version. I didn’t see the option but read in the comments/questions that there were two versions. I want to make sure I order the zinc coated.
There is only one option now and that is the zinc coated version of the Boomstick. When you place your order, you will be good to go!

Why is there a threaded hole on one end of the boomstick?
That is used in the milling and plaitng process. It allows the tool to have an even zinc plating

Is it a good idea to use the Boomstick or Pain Pill every time I train (consecutive days)?
While we are big fans of body tempering, if there is a need to use these tools every day there may be other movment issues that need to be addressed. Our KMS library has a ton of videos and ques that may provide the info that could help.
